Remote Deposit Capture

Skip the trip to the bank.

iStream’s Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) solution helps organizations digitize check deposits and streamline receivables without disrupting existing banking relationships.

Modern check processing, without the complexity.

Our RDC solution transforms paper checks into digital deposits while preserving the data and controls finance teams need, reducing delays, improving accuracy, and simplifying reconciliation.

Why RDC and iStream?

  • Designed for businesses, financial institutions, and platforms handling high check volumes.
  • iStream was one of the early pioneers in Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) following the passage of the Check 21 Act.
  • Our solution works alongside your existing systems and banking relationships, focusing on integration, automation, and process improvement.

Whether you’re modernizing a legacy workflow or supporting a dynamic volume of check payments, iStream provides a practical path forward.

✅ Simple to use, easy to install

Simply download our client application and enter your assigned credentials to get up and running. Our technical team will evaluate your system compatibility to ensure you are adequately powered for peak performance.

Most users are trained and operational in under 30 minutes.

Bank Neutral Design

Our bank-agnostic solution works across multiple financial institutions, allowing organizations to deposit checks without changing existing banking relationships.

Online Return Management

Returns happen. Manage them digitally through a paperless, web-based workflow with no guesswork needed. Our system finds and matches the return for you and provides timely notifications so your team can act faster to resolve issues.

Automated Reconciliation

RDC connects bank routing and account data to the correct customer, helping organizations automate posting and reconciliation. This reduces manual effort and speeds up back-office workflows.

Built-In Quality Assurance

Every deposit goes through automated validation for check amounts, account information, and duplicates. Items that fall outside defined thresholds are flagged for human review before submission, ensuring accuracy and item integrity.

Customized Reporting and Data Export

Deposit activity and reports can be accessed and exported in Excel, CSV, or PDF formats.

Secure, Hosted Infrastructure

All data is encrypted and transmitted securely to a Tier I redundant data center. No sensitive information is stored on local machines and access is available anytime. There’s no need for you to manage any on-premise servers.

Compliance-Ready

iStream meets FDIC security standards and partner bank guidelines, with regular audits to support ongoing compliance and risk management.

Instant Image Access

Checks can be located and viewed instantly through an online search with a range of two years (potentially more) from when they were originally processed. No manual retrieval required.

Faster Funds Availability

Automated workflows allow for later deposit cutoffs and quicker clearing, helping organizations improve cash flow compared to traditional deposit processes.

Centralized Visibility for Multiple Locations

Manage deposits from multiple locations and accounts in one place. Consolidated reporting eliminates manual aggregation while maintaining secure, role-based access controls.

No need for overnight packages, couriers, or faxes of deposit slips to a central location.

Lockbox Processing/Remittance

For organizations that receive large volumes of mailed checks, iStream also supports lockbox processing on a selective basis.

Lockbox services can be paired with RDC to:

  • Centralize mail receipt and check handling
  • Accelerate deposit timelines
  • Reduce internal mail processing and manual effort

Because lockbox needs vary widely by industry and volume, this capability is evaluated and implemented case by case to ensure the right operational fit.

Let’s talk about your RDC needs

Every check workflow is different. If you’re looking to improve deposit speed, reduce manual effort, or modernize how checks move through your organization, iStream can help.

Bank Processing

Secure, accurate file movement between businesses, financial institutions, and core banking environments.

Overview

iStream supports the secure movement of payment files between businesses, financial institutions, and core banking systems. Our integration layer automates file transfers, normalizes data formats, and validates incoming and outgoing payment information, ensuring that every file arrives clean, consistent, and ready for processing.

Built to work alongside your existing core, iStream enhances ACH, check, and card-related workflows with flexible mapping, efficient exception handling, and scalable infrastructure capable of supporting high-volume environments.

Key Features

iStream provides full guidance in obtaining and implementing a secondary routing number (RTN), including documentation, submission, approval, and configuration.

A secondary RTN allows:

  • Cleaner separation of payment flows

  • Routing returns directly to iStream for management

  • iStream-originated files to flow independently

  • Clear audit trails and simpler reconciliation

This separation helps institutions maintain clarity across regulatory, operational, and reporting workflows while preserving existing RTN activity.

Eliminate manual movement of sensitive payment data. iStream automates file delivery using secure transfer protocols and predictable scheduling.

We integrate with all major bank cores and treasury systems through APIs or custom file layouts, ensuring a smooth fit into your existing operations. No system replacement required. We adapt to your data structures and routing rules.

iStream handles ACH originations and returns, check images and item proofing with precision and consistent formatting.

Our infrastructure scales to support institutions with complex or growing transaction volumes, handling daily disbursements, treasury workflows, and wholesale payment activity.

iStream complies with FDIC security standards and is audited regularly.

iStream maintains a SOC 2 certification and leverages a robust electronic boarding system that works to ensure that all the relevant information is collected when a customer is boarded.

After the client begins processing, additional risk and monitoring systems are utilized to ensure processing is being executed in the manner and velocity expected.

When anomalies are discovered, proactive notifications are generated so that near real-time action can be taken, avoiding any unintended outcomes.

No two institutions process files the same way. iStream builds custom file layouts, mapping rules, and data feeds to ensure compatibility across your core, treasury system, and back-office workflows.

This flexibility has powered successful integrations for more than 20+ years.

Unsure how iStream fits into your environment? Our Professional Services team brings decades of experience integrating with core processors, treasury systems, and payment infrastructures.

Account Validation

Our account validation solution helps businesses verify bank account information in real-time, reducing returns, preventing fraud, and maintaining compliance with NACHA regulations.

Validate with confidence, all before a single transaction is processed.

Why ACH Account Validation Matters

ACH payments are fast and cost-effective, but they don’t provide instant feedback like credit card networks. Without validation, invalid or closed accounts can lead to failed transactions, lost time, and unnecessary costs.

NACHA rules require all first-time WEB-authorized transactions be validated by a commercially reasonable method. iStream helps you confirm that bank accounts are active and accurate before money moves, protecting your business and your customers.

💡 How it Works

Our platform offers multiple validation methods designed to fit your workflow, speed, and risk tolerance.

Validation Options

  • ACH Pre-notification Entry Method: Send a zero-dollar transaction through the ACH network to verify account existence before processing payments. Ideal when transactions will occur 3-5 days after setup.

  • Micro-Deposit Validation: Send small test deposits that customers confirm, ensuring accounts are valid and authorized.

  • Real-Time Account Validation: Instantly verify account and routing numbers using iStream’s database and real-time network access. No customer input required, and results are returned within seconds.

  • Linked Account Verification: Authenticate directly through the customer’s bank login for immediate confirmation. This method eliminates administrative returns and ensures data accuracy straight from the source.

All iStream validation methods satisfy NACHA’s commercially reasonable verification requirements for first-time WEB transactions.

Lower Processing Costs

Minimize exception handling, return fees, and lost time.

Improve Speed and Efficiency

Eliminate manual verification steps and speed up onboarding.

Reduce Fraud Risk and Stay Compliant

Meet NACHA’s validation and fraud-prevention standards.

Flexible Integration

API, file-based, or standalone. iStream adapts to your existing systems.

Our Recommendation

For optimal protection and performance, iStream recommends using a hybrid approach, combining instant validation with micro-deposit or linked account methods. This ensures accuracy for every transaction type while keeping operations efficient and scalable.

Simplify Validation

Whether you process payments through iStream or another provider, our validation tools help you move funds confidently and securely.

Protect your business from risk and ensure every transaction starts with trust.

SOLUTION

Insurance Premium Aggregation (IPA)

Seamless collection and remittance of insurance premiums.

Automate Premium Funding for Voluntary Benefits Through Payroll, ACH, or Credit Card

Voluntary benefits should be simple for employees and seamless for carriers. But under traditional models, employers are saddled with unnecessary responsibilities:

  • Selecting brokers/agents
  • Managing invoices
  • Withholding premiums through payroll
  • Remitting payments to carriers on time

This approach creates delays, errors, and often puts both coverage and cash flow at risk.

How iStream IPA Works

The iStream Insurance Premium Aggregation (IPA) solution automates premium funding and removes the burden from employers, without adding complexity for employees.

  1. Employees add a secondary payroll disbursement using a secure U.S. banking account number provided by iStream.
  2. Each payroll cycle, the specified contribution amount is automatically directed into the IPA account.
  3. Alternatively, payments can also be funded via ACH or credit card.
  4. iStream then splits the lump sum into the correct amounts for each provider and remits funds (with all supporting data) directly to carriers on a predetermined schedule.

For the employee, it feels identical to traditional payroll deductions. For the carrier, it means predictable, accurate, and on-time premium payments every month

The iStream Advantage

Hands-off for employers: No more invoices, collections, or remittance headaches.

Portability for employees: The process moves with them across employers, reducing lapses in coverage.

Reliability for carriers: No late or underpayments, no cash-flow diversion.

Efficiency for finance teams: Treasury management and accounts receivable are simplified with automated, timely disbursements.

The Result

Gone are the days of manual collections, missed payments, and administrative burden. With IPA, premiums are funded, split, and remitted automatically, ensuring continuity of coverage and confidence for all stakeholders.

Contact us today to learn how our IPA solution can benefit your organization.

SOLUTION

Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement

The ICHRA premium reimbursement solution from iStream enables employers to fund premium payments directly, just like with traditional group plans.

Employees don’t have to pay upfront, and employers keep administration simple, secure, and compliant.

Modernize Premium Reimbursements Without the Hassle

ICHRAs give employees the freedom to choose individual health insurance plans while employers continue to contribute. But there’s one big drawback: in many ICHRA programs, employees must pay premiums upfront and then wait for reimbursement—putting unnecessary strain on cash flow.

💡 How it Works

  1. Employers sponsor an ICHRA plan
  2. Employees enroll in ICHRA Plan
  3. iStream assigns an employee account for premium payments
  4. Employers fund premium disbursement account
  5. Carriers debit employee premium accounts to fund insurance coverage
  6. iStream processes ACH activity and provides real-time visibility and advanced reporting

Employers treat the employee portion as a wage advance, recouped through payroll, mirroring the familiar workflow of traditional group plans, while preserving cash flow for employees.

✅ Benefits

  • Removes the financial burden on employees — no more paying first, waiting later
  • Automates premium payments — reducing admin work and errors
  • Supports compliance and security — trusted, transparent, and scalable
  • Flexible for employers — works across industries, carriers, and plan types

The Challenge with ICHRA Premiums

With traditional group coverage, premiums are paid up front by the employer, and employees simply have their portion withheld through payroll.

For example:

  • Family premium: $1,000/month
  • Employer pays 50%: $500
  • Employee pays 50%: $500, withheld as $250 per paycheck (semi-monthly)

Employees never have to pay the full premium themselves.

With ICHRA, it’s different. Employees must pay the entire $1,000 premium upfront to the carrier, while still having $500 withheld from their paychecks for the prior group coverage month. That’s a 200% financial hit in the first month, a burden many households can’t manage.

Why ICHRA Administrators Choose iStream for Premium Payment Processing

How iStream Solves it

The iStream ICHRA Solution eliminates this cash-flow problem by aligning ICHRA payments with the familiar group plan model:

  • Employers fund accounts directly, covering both their share and the employee’s share (as a wage advance).
  • Carriers debit premiums monthly from these accounts.
  • Employees’ share is recouped gradually through payroll deductions, just like before.

The result? Employees avoid the upfront shock, employers maintain their normal cash-flow rhythm, and everyone benefits from a seamless transition to ICHRA.

  • Chips are embedded in the card and contain encrypted data that is accessed by the reader in the point of service terminal
  • A code or “cryptogram” is sent to the processor during the transaction to validate the card and cardholder, then a new on is issued and stored to validate the next use of the card

The Hosted Payment Page offering can be embedded into current web page(s) to maintain the look, feel and navigation for your web properties while enhancing functionality to include credit card payments (as well as ACH if desired).

The Virtual Terminal is the web-based application for processing card present, card not present and recurring payments. The Virtual Terminal can be integrated with EMV devices and utilized point to point encryption for data security and further reduction of PCI scope.

Dashboard reporting provides real-time insight and details related to transactions, allowing for review and payment modification prior to settlement, providing a proactive approach to activity management. Reporting is configurable based on a client’s specific needs and can me modified and enhanced as organizational and processing needs change.

Check Return / ACH Return Processing

iReturn™ Check Return / ACH Return Processing is the online, paperless return management system from iStream.

As a FedReceipt for Returns approved organization, iStream has automated the often-cumbersome returns process. By eliminating the need for paper returns and automating resubmission, iReturn streamlines the process, speeding up time to collection.

The returns process is enhanced due to features such as:

Instant Notification System

Communication is critical when it comes to a potential issue with deposit(s). The iStream platform leverages a real-time, instant notification system with several options to notify you of events such as returned items. Each time a user logs into the iStream platform, if there has been a notification, they will see a notification as such.

Additionally, e-mail notification is also an option for clients to receive alerts related to item(s) needing to be processed.

Dynamic Image Search & Reporting Capabilities

iReturn incorporates robust capabilities that allows a user to query the entire system for any item processed in the past seven years. The platform allows a user to view an original check image, the returned check image as well as any notes or additional data related to the return item. These options often prove to be invaluable tools to the individuals tasked with researching items processed in the past.

Ability To Print, Resubmit & View Returns

Locating return items is often only half of the process. Once the items have been located, iReturn also provides the tools necessary to speed up resubmission and communicate information about the returns in the system. With capabilities to print both the original and the returned image, resubmit a deposit with the click of the mouse or move the item(s) to a different area for collections or other actions, you have everything you need to work returns in a rapid and efficient manner.

Auto Resubmit

iReturn provides the capability for users to set up returns for auto resubmission. Once this parameter is set, the system will automatically resubmit all eligible check items for a second time, automatically. Removed are the requirements to individually select items and manually resubmit, the system automates the entire process.

Ability To Add Notes Regarding Returned Item

If the need arises to append additional information or notes related to a situation and the associated items, the iStream platform offers integrated note functionality.

This allows for proper documentation and notification to other users of the system, providing a consistent view of the history and circumstances surrounding each specific item.

View Original And Returned Images On A Single Screen

iReturn matches the original scanned item with the returned image received. Should any data be illegible on the returned check image, a view of the clean original grayscale image captured is provided for clarity. The system is able to provide this functionality due to the fact that the solution captures images in multiple formats at the onset of the transaction, so as to reduce any image quality issues later in the process.

Increased Ability To Collect Funds

Since both notification and resubmission can be automated, the need to wait for paper return via postal mail is eliminated. As soon as the return is posted (often in as little as 48 hours), the item details can be reviewed and appropriate action to collect can begin.

Direct Benefit Deposit

iDirect Deposit™ (iDD) is the iStream solution for Financial Service Centers that enables the unbanked/underbanked to receive direct deposit payments at a secure location, such as a check cashing outlet or financial service center.

iDirect Deposit™  allows the unbanked/underbanked a solution to not only to receive their payments more rapidly when compared to receiving a check in the mail, but to also take care of other financial related transactions at the same time.

iDD was designed to provide the unbanked/underbanked population a choice when it comes to providing them options for how and when they want to receive government, state (where available) and payroll payments. They are no longer constrained to the antiquated process of having to wait for a check to arrive in the mail or being forced to have funds loaded onto a prepaid card/program.

An additional benefit of iDD is that the service is provided on a fixed fee basis, in a FDIC insured account. This is far more favorable to the consumer when compared to the variable fee structure and lack of insurance that typically is associated with pre-paid card options.

This program effectively allows a Financial Service Center to offer a program that truly differentiates them from the competition, while still being able to offer their core services.

To participate in the program, a financial service center must be underwritten by iStream to become a participant in the program.

Upon obtaining successful underwriting status, the financial service center can begin offering the iDD program to customers. The process is simple, an interested customer is enrolled online by a Customer Service Representative of the Financial Service Center (FSC).

There are three basic requirements: the completion and signature of an application, providing a primary ID as well as a secondary ID to confirm proper and positive identification.

Upon successful application and identification validation, iStream enrolls the recipient in the respective federal or state (where available) program or provides the recipient with the account information necessary to provide an employer with the details required facilitate direct deposit of payroll.

Once a payment has become available for a recipient, a check is created at the secure location that then in turn be cashed and other financial transactions be facilitated.

iDD Program Features

Proactive e-mail and/or text notification of payments for Financial Service Center alerting recipients that payments have come in. As the timing of payments can differ month-to-month, this serves an effective manner to enable customers to receive their funds in the most timely manner possible.

The Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system allows recipients to check the status of anticipated payment(s) timing for arrival. The IVR offering drastically reduces the incoming call volume at the FSC level.

A mobile application and text messaging notifications are also available to provide customers insight as to the status of their payments, in real-time.
